It seems like they’ve packed up the aged Chalmers Motor Firm auto for a camping journey. This is from the Thompson household album, and that may perhaps be Earl Franz at the wheel.
The date is a little bit perplexing. We see a 1911 or 1912 Chalmers in this album, but this one is established up differently. It may well be a calendar year or two afterwards. This print seems immediately after some 1917 illustrations or photos in the album. The album seems to keep to the chronology fairly diligently, so I suspect this was a 1913 or so Chalmers photographed in 1917. Due to the fact I can’t make out the very last digit of the calendar year on the plate, we’ll have to concentrate on the wonderful career they’ve performed packing the car to head up into the hills.
As well lousy most automobiles don’t have operating boards any more. They’re a good deal less complicated to get to than roof racks.
